Lynchburg Cru Staff

Andrew and Jena Brown

Jena and Andrew worked with Cru in Boston from 2008-2013 and directed ministries on several campuses as part of the Boston Metro Team. In 2013 they moved to Charlottesville to lead the ministry at UVA.  While at UVA God ignited their passion for launching new ministries. After launching Cru at PVCC in 2015, a year later they launched the first campus in Lynchburg at CVCC. 5 more campuses and 2 high schools have been launched since then! Sensing that a local team was needed with all of these campuses now launched, the Browns got permission to start a new team in Lynchburg and after much prayer they made the move in June of 2019 to lead the new team in Lynchburg!

Jena is a gifted actress and singer, a mom of 3 kids, and loves building into the lives of college students. She has a Masters in Musical Theater from The Boston Conservatory.  Andrew loves basketball (playing and watching), spending time with his family and doing home repairs (their house was built in 1911!). Fun fact: Andrew has never had a hot dog or a cup of coffee. Andrew’s favorite verse is Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through him who gives me strength.”

Nolvin and Kati Cruz

Nolvin Cruz served on our team as an intern for two years and reported in the spring of 2022 as full time staff. Nolvin married his wife Kati in June 2022 and they have 2 dogs. He is a graduate from Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) in Charlottesville, VA. There, he was introduced to Cru and became an actively involved participant and later the student president. After graduating he felt God put it on his heart to go into full time ministry with Cru. Nolvin has seen the Office 9 times and loves to throw knives for fun. His personal motto is, “Live life Philippians 1:21 style so I can spread the Gospel Matthew 28:8-10 style.”

Ashley and Ian McCready
Ashley and Ian along with Nolvin are also graduates of PVCC. Ashley is serving as part-time staff with Cru and Ian works at Liberty University as a landscaper and also serves with Cru as a volunteer. Ashley really enjoys ministering to students and learning how to better share the gospel to the world. She serves primarily with Cru high school Cru and Liberty. An interesting fact about Ashley is that she can read really fast and only reads long series for that reason. Ian has an interesting fact to share has well, he has two different colored eyes.
Chris and Kylie Carrero
Two of the all-time greats, Chris and Kylie, have just returned to the US from serving with Cru with The Every Initiative in Sweden. Chris has joined our team as full-time staff and Kylie will also serve as affiliate staff. They are excited to soon become a family of 3! They are both Liberty grads and excited to be back in Lynchburg with Cru as they served on our team during the spring semester of 2021. Kylie makes amazing charcuterie boards while Cris uses his carpentry skills to make things with boards like the home they are currently renovating.
